There’s a look to get on board with for the summer, if you were looking for one. Every year sees it around to a certain extent, and it turns out it’s just never a bad idea. Ballet pumps and arabesques

Tighten your abs, lift your chin and stand straight: there you go, all ready to slip into the gracious and elegant skin of a prima ballerina! If it stormed the catwalks two years ago, the ballerina trend is now all ripe to settle in your wardrobe. Pastel pink, light dresses and classic ballet pumps: it’s a wave of softness and tenderness!

If we say prima ballerina what do you think: pink ballet slippers with satin ribbons? A tulle tutu? A crossover body? A strict hairbun up high on the head? Bingo, you’ve got it all right. That said, no need to get your Russian ballet uniform out, you’re not trying to look like you stepped out of Black Swan.

Daytime version

For the everyday, you can count on a little lace dress, a crochet top, a pleated skirt, a draped dress, a crossover top or a skater skirt that subtely suggest the tutu and body without going all the way (keep that for your next Nutcracker evening).

Colour-wise, think tenderness: pastel pink is obviously king, but you can also look at cream, beige, lilac and grey shades, and generally any pastel colour – they all blend wonderfully. Basically the idea is to turn your wardrobe into a giant macaron box. Not going to say No to that are we?

Shoe-wise, you have a  it of choice: ballet pumps with little knots, babies, T-straps, patent pumps, ribbon sandals… Any shoe that is feminine, elegant, and more confortable that pointe shoes (easy).

Ballerina on a night out

Fancy night out but you don’t know what to wear? Don’t panic: the ballerina look also adapts to chic places!

For example take a pleated dress, a tulle skirt à la tutu or a high waisted midi skirt, add a smart top like a silk cami, an embroided shirt or an elegant crossover, and you’ve got a perfect look!

As for shoes, you can count on T-straps with heels, pumps with little knots, babies with an embellished heel or glitter ballet pumps that’ll add a bit of oomph to a cute look.

To complete the lot, do you hair up in a scurffy bun, add a little clutch and there you go! All grace and refinement, now all you need to do is hit the dancefloor and show off your “rond de jambe” (not recommended after three mojitos).
